The Timney R.E.D. Impact AR Trigger was developed to provide AR-15 builders with a more affordable drop-in trigger option without sacrificing the machining quality, materials, and performance standards Timney is known for. Part of the People’s Choice Line of Excellence, the R.E.D. (Remember Everyone Deployed) Special Edition also supports Timney’s partnership with AdoptAPlatoon, an organization that provides care packages and support for deployed military personnel.

This self-contained single-stage trigger module is designed for Mil-Spec AR-15 lower receivers utilizing standard .154 small-pin dimensions. The drop-in cassette design keeps all internal components captive within a lightweight aluminum alloy housing, allowing straightforward installation using the rifle’s original hammer and trigger pins without fitting, adjustment, or gunsmithing.

The flat trigger shoe provides a straight trigger surface that many AR-15 shooters prefer for consistent finger placement and controlled trigger press characteristics. Timney factory sets the pull weight at approximately 3-4 pounds, producing a crisp, clean break with a short reset that delivers a substantial improvement over standard factory Mil-Spec triggers while maintaining predictable operation for recreational shooting, training, and competition-oriented rifle setups.

Unlike many budget-oriented AR triggers that utilize stamped components or metal injection molded parts, the Impact trigger uses billet steel internal components manufactured through wire-EDM machining processes. The hammer is machined from S7 tool steel for a balance of impact resistance and wear durability under extended use, while additional components are EDM cut from A2 tool steel and heat treated to Rc 56-60 for long-term consistency and service life.

Timney’s proprietary internal retention design helps eliminate pin walkout while preserving compatibility with the rifle’s original hammer and trigger pins. The trigger is hand-assembled and hand-tested by Timney technicians before leaving the factory.
