The Timney AR-15 Competition Trigger is a self-contained, cassette-style trigger upgrade for compatible AR-15 rifles. This skeletonized large-pin version is configured for Colt large-pin AR-15 lowers and features a factory-set 4 lb pull weight with a smooth, crisp, creep-free single-stage break.

The large-pin configuration is intended for Large Pin Colt rifles from the 1990s and other compatible AR-15 receivers requiring the large-pin format. It is not intended for standard small-pin lowers, .308 or 7.62 caliber AR platforms, or Smith & Wesson 15-22 rifles. For buyers working with older Colt-pattern AR-15 receivers, this variant provides the correct large-pin fitment while retaining Timney’s Competition Trigger performance.

The skeletonized trigger shoe gives the trigger a distinctive competition-style profile while maintaining a consistent trigger surface for repeatable finger placement. Timney designs the AR-15 Competition Trigger as a 100% drop-in module with no gunsmithing, fitting, or user adjustment required. All major components are captive inside the lightweight aluminum alloy housing, helping simplify installation while keeping the trigger assembly contained and aligned inside the lower receiver.

The hammer is wire-EDM machined from S7 tool steel for wear resistance and impact strength, while the remaining internal components are EDM cut from A2 tool steel and heat-treated to Rc 56-60 for long service life. Precision-ground engagement surfaces help support a clean hammer release and the crisp trigger feel Timney is known for.

The trigger installs using the rifle’s original hammer and trigger pins, while Timney’s proprietary design helps eliminate pin walkout without requiring anti-walk pins. Each trigger is hand-assembled, tested, and calibrated before leaving the factory and is backed by Timney’s lifetime warranty.
