The Timney AR-15 Competition Trigger is a self-contained, cassette-style trigger upgrade for compatible AR-15 and M4-pattern rifles. This skeletonized 4.5 lb version delivers a smooth, crisp, creep-free single-stage pull with a clean break, giving AR builders a refined alternative to standard factory trigger groups.

Designed as a 100% drop-in trigger module, the 665S installs without gunsmithing, fitting, or user adjustment. All major components are captive inside the lightweight aluminum alloy housing, helping simplify installation while keeping the trigger assembly contained and consistent inside the lower receiver.

The skeletonized trigger shoe gives this version a distinctive competition-style profile while maintaining a consistent trigger surface for repeatable finger placement. The factory-set 4.5 lb pull weight is the heaviest option in the AR-15 Competition Trigger lineup, making it a practical choice for shooters who want a crisp single-stage break with a more deliberate trigger press for range rifles, hunting setups, varmint rifles, and competition-oriented AR-15 builds.

Timney builds the AR-15 Competition Trigger with durable tool-steel internal components for long service life and consistent trigger feel. The hammer is wire-EDM machined from S7 tool steel for wear resistance and impact strength, while the remaining internal components are EDM cut from A2 tool steel and heat-treated to Rc 56-60. Precision-ground engagement surfaces help support a clean hammer release and the crisp trigger feel Timney is known for.

The trigger installs using the rifle’s original hammer and trigger pins, while Timney’s proprietary design helps eliminate pin walkout without requiring anti-walk pins. Each trigger is hand-assembled, tested, and calibrated before leaving the factory and is backed by Timney’s lifetime warranty.
