The Timney AR-15 Competition Trigger is a self-contained, cassette-style trigger upgrade for compatible AR-15 and M4-pattern rifles. This large-pin skeletonized version is configured for Colt-style large-pin lowers and delivers a crisp, creep-free single-stage pull with a factory-set 3 lb pull weight.

The 3 lb pull is the lightest option in Timney’s AR-15 Competition Trigger lineup, giving precision-focused AR builders a clean break with minimal take-up and a consistent reset feel. For shooters upgrading from a standard factory trigger group, the single-stage design provides a more refined press while keeping operation straightforward and familiar.

This skeletonized trigger shoe gives the trigger a competition-style profile while maintaining a consistent contact surface for repeatable finger placement. The large-pin configuration is intended for compatible AR-15 receivers using .169 pin dimensions, including Colt-style large-pin lowers, and should not be used in standard small-pin lowers.

Timney builds the AR-15 Competition Trigger as a 100% drop-in module with no gunsmithing, fitting, or adjustment required. All components are captive inside the lightweight aluminum alloy housing, and the trigger installs using the rifle’s original hammer and trigger pins. Timney’s proprietary design helps eliminate pin walkout without requiring anti-walk pins.

The hammer is wire-EDM machined from S7 tool steel for wear resistance and impact strength, while the remaining internal components are EDM cut from A2 tool steel and heat-treated to Rc 56-60 for long service life. Precision-ground engagement surfaces help support the crisp hammer release and clean trigger feel Timney is known for.

Each trigger is hand-assembled, tested, and calibrated before leaving the factory, making it a strong choice for competition rifles, precision-oriented AR-15 builds, varmint rifles, and range setups where a light, clean single-stage trigger is preferred.
