Hornady 5.45 Cal 60gr V-MAX (Bulk / OEM)

Hornady 5.45 Cal 60gr V-MAX

The Hornady 5.45 Cal 60gr V-MAX is a specialized varmint bullet designed for flat trajectories, pinpoint accuracy, and explosive on-target results. Tailored for shooters seeking superior terminal performance from their 5.45x39mm platforms, this bullet is built with advanced engineering that delivers consistent expansion and fragmentation—even at extended ranges or lower velocities.

This 60-grain projectile features Hornady’s iconic V-MAX design, which includes a sharp polymer tip for improved aerodynamics and violent terminal energy transfer. Whether you’re pursuing varmints, dialing in a defensive load, or working on high-performance reloading, this bullet stands out for its devastating effect on impact and its accuracy in flight. The polymer tip rests above a hollow cavity that helps initiate rapid expansion, while the swaged lead core underneath ensures balance and structural uniformity.

Each V-MAX bullet is built with Hornady’s match-grade AMP jacket, which offers nearly zero variation in jacket thickness and perfect concentricity. This not only enhances accuracy but also ensures reliable and repeatable terminal behavior shot after shot. The precise boattail and flatbase designs further contribute to in-flight stability, making this bullet ideal for long-range engagements or small-game hunting scenarios.

Whether you’re a reloader preparing for an upcoming varmint hunt or a high-volume shooter seeking to stock up with bulk bullets, the Hornady 5.45 Cal 60gr V-MAX is a smart addition to your bench. Available in bulk quantities, these bullets deliver on all fronts—performance, reliability, and value.

POLYMER TIP

The secret to the explosive terminal performance of the V-MAX is a hollow cavity resting between the tip’s shaft and the body of the bullet. Upon impact, the hard shaft builds up speed and energy before driving into the core, causing the entire package to rapidly expand into violent fragmentation—even at low terminal velocities.

HIGHER BALLISTIC COEFFICIENT

Hornady^® combines the sharp, pointed polymer tip with the most aerodynamic profile for a high ballistic coefficient. The V-MAX profile also provides the maximum bearing surface for added in-flight stability.

SWAGED LEAD CORE

The swaging process allows precise formation of the core up and around the tip, with a cavity under the tip’s stem. This allows the tip to build energy before smashing into the core, causing dramatic fragmentation of both the core and jacket.

PRECISE BOATTAIL & FLATBASE DESIGNS

Utilizing the proper base design provides incredible in-flight stability for long-range shooting.
