The Faxon Duty Series 16″ HBAR 5.56 NATO 4150 Nitride Mid-Length Barrel is built for shooters demanding exceptional durability, accuracy, and consistency from their AR-15 platform. This barrel features a heavy barrel profile, commonly referred to as HBAR, which enhances rigidity and minimizes whip during rapid or sustained fire. Precision-machined from 4150 CMV steel, it is engineered entirely in-house by Faxon and treated with a salt bath nitride finish, both inside and out, to resist corrosion and extend barrel life through hard use and harsh conditions.

Chambered in 5.56 NATO, this barrel supports both 5.56 and .223 Remington ammunition, offering versatility for range days, duty use, or competition. The button-rifled bore includes a 1:8 twist rate, allowing stable performance across a wide range of bullet weights, from 55-grain to 77-grain projectiles. This twist rate strikes a balance between fast-spinning lighter bullets and optimal stabilization for heavier match rounds, while also making cleaning easier due to its consistent internal finish.

The mid-length gas system offers a smoother recoil impulse compared to carbine-length setups, improving reliability and shooting comfort over extended sessions. A .750″ gas block journal and 1.1″ gas block journal length ensure compatibility with standard mid-length components. The barrel is threaded 1/2×28 TPI at the muzzle, accommodating a variety of flash hiders, compensators, or suppressors to suit your shooting style. An M4 barrel extension provides proper feeding geometry, and the recessed 11-degree target crown enhances precision by ensuring consistent gas release at the muzzle.

Each barrel undergoes magnetic particle inspection (MPI) to confirm structural integrity. At 2.06 lbs, the HBAR contour remains balanced on the rifle while delivering the repeatable accuracy that serious shooters expect from Faxon’s Duty Series.
