The Faxon Duty Series 16″ .308 Win AR10 Pencil Barrel is built for shooters who want to reduce front-end weight without giving up the durability expected from a large-frame AR barrel. Machined from 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium steel, this barrel combines Faxon’s lightweight Pencil profile with a mid-length gas system and a full Salt Bath Nitride treatment inside and out.

At just 1.83 pounds, the Pencil contour removes unnecessary material to create a noticeably lighter .308 AR10 platform. The reduced barrel mass makes the rifle easier to carry and faster to handle, making this configuration especially well suited to hunting rifles, field builds, and lightweight general-purpose AR10 setups.

The 16-inch barrel uses a mid-length gas system with a .750-inch gas block journal for a balanced combination of compact overall length and smooth cycling. Faxon uses standard button rifling with a 1:10 twist rate, giving the barrel broad compatibility with common .308 Winchester projectile weights.

A full QPQ Salt Bath Nitride treatment protects both the exterior and bore from wear and corrosion, while the DPMS / LR-308 compatible barrel extension receives a Black Oxide finish. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 for common .30-caliber muzzle devices and suppressor mounts, and an 11-degree non-recessed target crown completes the barrel.

16-Inch Mid-Length Configuration

Duty Series 4150 CMV Construction

Faxon manufactures the Duty Series from 4150 CMV steel and applies its QPQ Salt Bath Nitride treatment to both the bore and exterior. This surface treatment improves wear resistance, corrosion protection, and service life without relying on a separate bore lining.

DPMS / LR-308 Compatibility

The barrel uses a DPMS / LR-308 compatible extension for use with properly matched large-frame AR components.
