The Faxon .308 WIN 20″ Big Gunner Barrel is engineered for shooters who demand a balance of accuracy, weight savings, and rugged durability. Machined from high-quality 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium (CMV) steel, this barrel is designed to perform reliably in both precision and duty applications. It features a QPQ salt bath nitride finish for enhanced corrosion resistance, reduced friction, and long-term durability inside and out.

This barrel is 100% manufactured in-house from gun-barrel-quality bar-stock. Each barrel is subjected to a rigorous series of quality control processes, including MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) to verify the structural integrity of the steel and individual headspace checks using precision custom hardened gauges to ensure safe and consistent operation in your rifle build.

Configured with a rifle-length gas system and a 0.75” gas block journal, this 20″ barrel offers smooth cycling and reduced recoil—ideal for precision shooting, hunting, or extended-range engagements. The M4 feed ramp extension is Nickel Teflon coated for improved feeding reliability under high round counts and adverse conditions.

What is the Big Gunner Profile?
The Big Gunner profile is a specialized evolution of Faxon’s popular Gunner profile. It combines the strength and heat mitigation properties of the Government profile at the rear of the barrel with a lightweight pencil profile at the front. This unique design keeps the mass where it’s most effective—near the chamber—to resist heat distortion and reduce whip, while trimming unnecessary weight from the front to enhance balance and maneuverability. The result is a well-balanced barrel optimized for accuracy and control.
