The Faxon .223 Wylde 18″ Flame Fluted 5R Match Series Barrel offers precision, style, and uncompromising performance. Machined from premium 416R stainless steel and finished with a corrosion-resistant QPQ Nitride treatment, this barrel is engineered for durability and superior heat resistance. The barrel is enhanced with Faxon’s signature flame fluting—cut with varying depths for weight reduction, increased surface area, and a dramatic visual aesthetic.

This barrel is equipped with 5R rifling, a design that improves accuracy by minimizing bullet deformation, reducing fouling, and increasing projectile velocity. Each barrel is fully MPI inspected and individually checked for headspace using custom hardened gauges to guarantee match-grade consistency. Nickel Teflon coating on the M4 feed ramp extension further enhances reliability by ensuring smoother feeding during high-round-count sessions.

The .223 Wylde chamber gives shooters the best of both worlds—safely handling both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition with exceptional accuracy. With a rifle-length gas system and 0.75″ gas block journal, this barrel delivers softer recoil and improved cycling, even during rapid fire or suppressed shooting.

This flame-fluted barrel is built on the Gunner profile—a blend of Government and Pencil profiles. From extension to journal, it mirrors the Government profile’s taper for durability. Forward of the gas block, it transitions to a lightweight pencil contour. This front-end reduction improves balance, enhances maneuverability, and minimizes shooter fatigue while preserving rearward mass to resist whip and manage heat.
