The Faxon 12″ Big Gunner 8.6 Blackout 416R SS Matte Pistol-Length Barrel is purpose-built for shooters who demand premium performance in a compact AR-10 platform. Crafted from high-grade 416R stainless steel and finished with a non-reflective bead-blasted matte surface, this barrel is designed to balance accuracy, weight, and handling. Whether you’re building a suppressed SBR or a lightweight AR-10 pistol, this 12-inch barrel provides impressive energy delivery and performance in a short footprint.

The Big Gunner profile combines a medium taper near the chamber with a thinner front end to reduce weight while maintaining the rigidity required for accuracy and heat management. This design helps keep the rifle balanced and responsive, especially important when adding optics, lights, or suppressors. Weighing approximately 2.2 lbs, the barrel is ideal for mobile or tactical applications where agility and reliability are paramount.

Chambered in 8.6 Blackout, the barrel features a fast 1:3 twist rate specifically tailored to stabilize heavy subsonic projectiles—common in suppressed shooting applications. The bore is honed and lapped for smoothness and uniformity, improving shot-to-shot consistency and minimizing fouling. The 5R button rifling reduces jacket deformation and helps maintain barrel life while supporting easier cleaning and more predictable accuracy.

Inside and out, the barrel is treated with a salt bath nitride process to improve corrosion resistance, surface hardness, and longevity. A pistol-length gas system is paired with a .875″ gas block journal and 1.9″ journal length to ensure reliable function with or without a suppressor. The muzzle is threaded M18x1.5, providing compatibility with most 8.6 BLK-specific brakes or suppressors. A recessed 11-degree target crown supports even gas release for enhanced downrange precision.

The DPMS LR-308 compatible barrel extension is finished in Nickel Teflon for added corrosion protection and smooth lockup in your upper receiver.
